For John Bastiras, furniture has always been more than an object. It is a way of translating ideas from the built environment into pieces for everyday living. Influenced by architecture, travel, and the places that have shaped him, these references are often reflected throughout his collections.

Drawing on decades of experience across furniture, interiors, and architectural thinking, his work is guided by a sensitivity to place, resulting in considered pieces that bring character, function, and longevity to a space.

A refreshed identity was developed to reflect the studio’s next chapter, expanding beyond bespoke furniture into collections and creative collaborations. The challenge was to create a brand that captured John’s expertise and personality without relying on excess.

Centred around Recital, the typographic system brings warmth and character while reflecting John’s thoughtful approach to design. Its subtle humanist qualities balance precision with personality, creating a brand that feels both knowledgeable and approachable.

The resulting identity reflects a practice shaped by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the worlds of furniture and architecture.
